Otto's Home
A downloadable game for Windows
Introduction
Otto's Home was made for Jame Gam #38. The theme was Mirrors and the "Special Object" was Smoke.
I have never made a game before and picked up unity 2 weeks prior to this Game Jam so I still have a lot to learn and it is quite janky. I didn't have time to make sprites, set up audio or design animations before the deadline unfortunately but that will come in the next few weeks.
The Story
In this game you play as Otto who finds himself suddenly awakened by the smell of smoke filling his room and an unfamiliar sight in his mirror
Controls
- Movement - A and D or Left Joystick for movement
- Jumping - W, Spacebar or "South Button" on controller
- Quit - Esc
- Restart Level - R
- I don't remember if I set those last two on controller
There are 6 levels total, it's a little tricky. Good luck!

Final Notes
I am very new to game development but I do have a CS degree so my programming abilities are decent. I would love constructive criticism but also please be kind.
I forgot to set a way to exit the game on the end screen so you'll have to Alt+F4. Whoops
Known Bugs (to fix)
- Holding W while jumping reduces horizontal velocity, until fixed either use space for jump or tap W briefly to jump.
- Sometimes player sprite clips below door sprite especially in the first level.
This game is currently being ported over to Godot with improved controls, a new main character (made by me), sound FX, Music (also made by me) and more designs and decoration (and possible more levels but maybe that will be in a full game???)
The demo (similar to this version) will also hopefully be playable in browser (depending on optimisations) so no need to download anymore
Download
Install instructions
